Pink Salmon Stages

Pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha):

Pink salmon are the most abundant of the seven species of Pacific Salmon. Adult Pink salmon begin entering Morrison Creek in September and October. Male pink salmon have a large, skinny “hump” on their backs; females often have a pink stripe down their side. Pink salmon are noticeably smaller than chum and coho. Young pink fry are a distinct “silverbrite” colour, and migrate to sea shortly after hatching from eggs in the spring. They are two years old when they spawn.
